We like to say our love story started with a swipe, but really, it was fate disguised as Tinder. We matched just before the world shut down in 2020, so most of our early ‘dates’ were virtual. Laughing over FaceTime, sending text messages, and getting to know each other from a distance.

When Matt returned to school for his senior year at Penn state, he was focused on his goal of getting into dental school. Little did Kailey know, he was planning to come home and surprise her for her 21st birthday. Unfortunately, Matt and his friends all caught Covid right before, and Becky had to save the day by delivering Matt’s thoughtful gift. Kailey and Matt cheers’d from a distance once again!

In February, Kailey came to visit Matt and get the Penn state experience. She had her “Phyrst” visit during state pattys day and even got a green hat and t-shirt, which she still has. Shortly after this visit, they made it official (via FaceTime of course). They continued their relationship from a distance, Kailey in Delaware and Matt in Pennsylvania. Their love stayed strong from college, to graduate school at Temple and West Chester, and now to post grad.

In 2024, Matt proposed to Kailey at Penns Woods Winery. Although Kailey thought for sure she would have an idea when it was coming, Matt succeeded in surprising her, as she thought it was a picnic for Zack’s birthday! After two graduations in May 2025, Kailey and Matt now live in Greenville, DE, no longer at a distance. What began in the most modern way turned into something timeless.
